Catherene Wright, born August 18, 1941 in her grandparents home in Patterson, Louisiana to Nathan Sr. and Jennie V. Asberry. She was the eldest of 8 children, a sister proceeds her by death at birth.
At age 2 yrs in 1943, the family relocated to California and settled in the East Los Angeles area known as the Boyle Heights District. The family became members of New Hope Baptist Church under the ministry of Rev. Bernard O. Byrd, who baptized her as a child along with her siblings. Not only did attending Sunday school, she attended Utah Elementary School, Hollenbeck Middle School and a particle semester at Roosevelt High School. When the family moved once again, this time to the West side of Los Angeles, she finished out her schooling at George Washington High c/o 1960.
After one year of college at Los Angeles City College studying secretarial skills, Catherene gave birth to daughter (Venus) to whom she gave to her parents to raise. Choosing not to return to school, she went into the work force and began her employment at Mattel Toys in El Segundo, Ca. It was also at this place of employment, she met and married Robert Wright in February 1967. To this union, 3 children were born. Twins, Robert Lewis and Robbie Antonio and youngest son, Shawn Nathan Wright. Her husband and parents now proceeds her by death.
Catherene later took on 2 jobs at once working at the Universal Hilton Hotel as a PBX Operator and part time at the El Capitan Movie theater in Hollywood, Ca. During this time in 1991, she met Johnny Jefferson, who soon became her love and life long partner. A relationship lasting 27 glorious years. After her retirement, the couple moved to Fresno Ca. sharing happy memorable moments. But after along battle with cancer, God spoke softly in her ear saying, “ It's time to come home.” And so, on October 17, 2018, Catherene took her leave in a quiet peaceful sleep with Johnny close by her side.

Robbie (Suzette) Wright and Shawn (Darie & Esther) Wright of Los Angeles, Ca. 6 Siblings; Brothers: Nathan Asberry Jr., Johnnie Lee Asberry, Carol Michael Asberry. Sisters: Katie (Carl) Poingsett, Linda Christine Asberry and Venus Asberry/Hicks (daughter and sister). Grandchildren; Darci Asberry, Chapri (Danny) Brown, Keiwan Jackson, Joseph Hicks Jr., Aaron (Demtria) Figueroa, Ramone Wright and Joelle Bishop. 6 Great Grandchildren; Chante', Daniya, Dapri, King Daniel, Montae, and Aaron Jr. And also 3 nephews, 1 great niece and a host of family and friends.
