Our Mother, Jean Elizabeth Bowers, at 97 years young passed away August 6th. Mother had 8 children, 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren with one more due in September. With family members totaling 65 she had a very full life! First Mother loved her family. Second, Mother loved fishing!! Combining the two things she loved was automatic. Mom and Dad taught us all how to fish and some of us even how to clean our catch!! In the 60’s Dad built a houseboat. Who knew that boat would hold up over 5 decades and bring my parents so much fun and so many good times at Pine Flat Lake. After Dad passed in 2004, mom still enjoyed the boat for many years. Mother remained independent and very much her high energy fun self until February of this year when she suffered a major stroke. The doctors tried to convince the family to let her go and we resisted knowing Mom was not ready. Mother did not disappoint!!! Mom came back for the last six months as a spitfire to reckon with. We were so grateful to have shared so many hours of laughs, hugs, and tears of joy, proving those doctors wrong.
Mom was a beautiful soul, so sweet and gentle. As difficult as it was for her family to let her go, she was ready to find out exactly what God has in store for her and to reunite with Dad, Margaret, Marian, and Terry. God bless you Mother, we all love you!
