Condolences

Condolence From: Richard Thomas
Condolence: Dear Dana and Members of the Ekins Family,

I knew Brent for many years beginning with his work as poison information specialist at the Utah Poison Control Center, then as fellow poison center director in California and finally through our professional activities in the American Association of Poison Control Centers and the American Board of Applied Toxicology. I am from Sanger so we also enjoyed a love for the beautiful San Joaquin valley.

Brent and I shared so many things in common both professionally and personally that I very feel a deep sense of loss for his untimely passing. I can only imagine how you and the family are all feeling. I have worked as a pharmacist in emergency departments for 16 years and have seen many unexpected and untimely accidents where a loved one is taken away without the chance for a goodbye or an "I love you." It is never easy but time will modify the intensity of your grief and loss.

Brent was such a vibrant and energetic person. There was never a time when he wasn't planning some new activity or adventure. He was also a faithful and dedicated member of the Church. We sometimes talked of his mission to Brasil and the missions that your children have served. Many years ago he and I visited the Sacred Grove together when the toxicology meetings were in Rochester, NY. We sat in that very special place and I read out loud Joseph's description of his experience there. I will always cherish the time that we spent together in that special place.

I wished that I could have been there when you celebrated his life. I am sure that between the children and grandchildren there were many beautiful stories and remembrances. He was worthy of all the nice things that were said about him.

Knowing that you are an eternal family brings a great deal solace in times like this but he will be sorely missed until it is your time to be reunited with him. Please accept my deepest sympathies for you and the members of your family.

Condolence: My deepest sympathy to you for the loss of your dear loved one.At John 5:28,29 Jesus gives us the wonderful hope of reuniting with our beloved ones again in the coming resurrection! Rev. 21:4 speaks of a time soon to come when our loving creator Jehovah God will remove all causes for heartache including death!
